I’ve been happily using MCE2005 for the past few years and never really had the need to upgrade my machine to vista. Now that the PSU has gone bang, it’s a perfect time to replace the hardware so I'm building a new MCE rig and plan to use Vista MCE on it rather than XP. I read with interest the debate about the TV pack prior to and immediately after its release, and distinctly remember that while it delivered a number of new excellent features, there were some issues such as missed recordings, compatibility problems, unable to use comskip and a few other add-ins and so on. Since then I haven’t really kept up to date with VMC and the TV pack, so wondered if these have been resolved in subsequent updates, and whether the concensus is that it’s a worthwhile upgrade over normal Vista MCE? Any pro’s and con’s on the installation is welcomed. Thanks
AFAIK the commskip "issue" i.e. not being able to skip or cut commercials in WTV files is still around....
Anyone else got an answer on this?
Ah right, that's a bit of a showstopper for me then. I was considering getting a DVB-S card and running it alongside my DVB-T to four tuners, but if I can't skip the commercials, I dont think i'll bother.
How did I manage without this?!? The missus would go potty having to ffwd them manually now!
I use the 30 second skip button on the remote and that works fine for me

Or tunerfreetv - amazing the number of on demand shows on 5 or channel 4 where the adds have been pre-removed.

Cool. Do we think there will be a comskip solution any time soon for WTV files? Im guessing with 7MC coming next yearthat we'll hit a solution at some point.
Are the issues with missed/failed recordings and other unreliabilities sorted now?
